The Spanish railroad company, Talgo has been adjudicated the Saudi Railways Organization (SRO) contract for the construction of six trains, for a total of more than 200 million dollars. The high-speed trains will travel the 480 kilometres that separate the Saudi cities of Riyadh and Damman.
The contract with the SRO aims to reduce the travel time between these two cities, from four hours to three, as well as increasing the speed up to 200 km/h. This new contract, according to Talgo, is due to the good relationship with Saudi Arabia established with the project for the Mecca-Medina line.
