Being one of the cradles of the ancient humanity, the province of Guizhou, located at the Southeast of China, started to have inhabitants and records of human activity 240,000 years ago. At the moment, 17 minority ethnic groups, whose population takes up 36.1% of the province, live there. Different ethnic groups coexist in the same land with harmony, which has resulted in a multifaceted and splendid culture.
Thanks to the techniques passed from generation to generation and abundant native resources, a variety of beautiful handcrafted pieces has been created such as cross stitch embroideries, silver accessories, clay whistle, batik (wax dyeing), wax painting, flute, stone sculpture, wood sculpture, bamboo articles, ceramics yazhou, etc.
