On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the earthquake that caused more than 200,000 deaths and one million and a half wounded people, Spain’s permanent representative before the UN, Román Oiarzun, visited Haiti from 23 to 25 January, with his counterparts from the member States of the Security Council. The objective of the trip is to evaluate the application of the resolutions and the development of the capacities of the State, as well as to support the UN Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the visit, the delegation has met Haiti’s President, Michel Martelly, and other authorities and members of the civil society.
