Yesterday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel García-Margallo, received the UN special envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, with whom he agreed that, after four years of war conflict in that country, the solution is not military, but political. According to UN data, the war has already caused more than 200,000 deaths and about 12 million refugees, more than half of them minors. Both the minister and de Mistura pointed out the need to facilitate urgent humanitarian help to assist those affected and the neighbouring countries that are taking refugees.
