At the moment, at least 2,058,000 Spanish people live abroad, which means an increase of thirteen per cent compared with the year 2012, according to information provided last Thursday by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel García-Margallo, during the plenary session of the Congress dedicated to the National Budget. According to Margallo, the Government maintains an item of 2.4 million euros to assist displaced Spanish people. Besides, in 2014, consular offices helped around 70 aid institutions and more than 7,000 Spanish people imprisoned all over the world.
