Guatemala is the second Latin American country, only behind Mexico, with the greatest volume of photographic archives in the Advanced Centre for Scientific Research (CSIC, in Spanish), as demonstrated by the exhibition “Guatemala and its artistic patrimony in the CISC photographic archives”, which has brought together 1,086 images in black and white, dated between 1920 and 1950.

During the inauguration, the Guatemalan ambassador, Carla María Rodríguez, stated that “this exhibition is a small great sample of the essence of Guatemala, a country with a number of World Heritage Sites, like Antigua, Tikal, and Quiriguá”.
