Iberia Airport Service is renewing the airport services it provides other companies on the ground, with the objective of competing in the next handling tender. To do so, they have invested 2.5 million euros in the purchase of 300 dollies, equipment used for the transport of cargo and luggage containers. This division of Iberia services over 200 companies, in 41 Spanish airports.
Iberia announced that they have also incorporated new platforms that will facilitate the locating of cargo within a plane, buses for passenger transfer, luggage carrousels and auxiliary generators, used to supply electricity and air conditioning to the planes when their engines are switched off.
In addition, Iberia Airport Services have begun to display their new brand image on counters, offices and all client services points in the airports where they operate. This image renewal is also being carried out on stairs, buses, vans, vehicles, push backs and other equipment also used to service aircrafts, passengers and cargo, both Iberia’s own and that of more than 200 client companies.
They serviced more than 73 million passengers across 41 Spanish airports in 2013
This division of Iberia consists of 8,200 vehicles with which it provides handling services for over 200 companies, in 41 Spanish airports. In 2013, they serviced approximately 73 million passengers who flew in more than 310,000 planes.
Over the next few months, this Spanish company is planning to compete in various tenders to offer handling services to third parties, across 19 Spanish airports with traffic greater than one million passengers per annum. Last March they presented their candidacy to offer these same services in the 22 Spanish airports with traffic of less than one million passengers per annum.
