Starting next 25 September, Madrid will host the First French Gastronomy Week, an event organized by the French Government with the objective of “strengthening an economic sector in full expansion” and of encouraging “one of the essential elements of the French culture”.
Between 26 and 28 September, France will celebrate the Fourth Event of the French Gastronomy, where more than 8,000 functions will take place in different parts of the country to “strengthen an economic sector in full expansion and raise the value of the national know-how”, according to information provided by the French Embassy in Madrid. The French Ministries of Finance and Economy and Industry are the ones in charge of the initiative.
At the same time, the Embassy continues, Madrid will celebrate the First French Gastronomy Week in Spain between 25 September and 5 October. The objective is to promote “one of the essential elements of the French culture, a permanent source of richness and creativity” that places France “as an international avant-garde referent as regards gastronomy”.

Madrid’s Week (which will have the participation of entities such as the Institut Français of Madrid, Carrefour, Iberia, Monico Catering or the Intercontinental Hotel, among others) will offer several thematic events for French cuisine lovers, the tasting of special menus for reasonable prices through a Gastronomic Route of French restaurants, seminars and cycles of cinema related to gastronomy, and different meetings and contests.
Between 26 September and 5 October, the Gastronomic Route, whose details can be found on the Embassy’s website (www.ambafrance-es.org), offers lunch and dinner every day in a series of French restaurants in Madrid associated to the programme, as well as afternoon snacks at Tearooms also associated. Besides, the Route includes brunch at the Intercontinental Hotel on 28 September and 5 October.
