Fundación Japón promotes the collection Biblioteca de Estudios Japoneses

September 16, 2014
in Uncategorized

This afternoon at 6:30 p.m., promoted by the Fundación Japón, the Museo ABC de Dibujo e Ilustración (29 Amaniel Street, Madrid) presents the collection Biblioteca de Estudios Japoneses, published by the Centro de Estudios e Investigación sobre Asia Oriental (CERAO) of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB in its Spanish acronym) in the publishing house Bellaterra.

Besides, the event will also be the occasion to present the book Genealogía y transformación de la cultura bushi en Japón, part of the Colección Biblioteca de Estudios Japoneses (CERAO-UAB / Bellaterra), a work destined to become a reference in the historical study of Japan, which provides the reader with the cultural keys to understand the structure of the Japanese martial arts and the variations of their morphology and their functioning.

In this book, the author, Gustavo Pita Céspedes, approaches the study of the bushi culture (samurai) and its metamorphosis in its interaction with the transformation of the Japanese society until contemporaneity. It is the result of an exhaustive historical research. Genealogía y transformación de la cultura bushi en Japón deals with the bushi culture as a fundamental system, internally differentiated in the formation and integration process of its diverse parts since the end of the Heian period. Its pages go through structural and functional transformations that the bushi culture experiences within the framework of the society Tokugawa, as well as its subsequent destiny, from the great social changes of the Meiji period until the postwar period, considering its influence in a particular way in the formation of the Japanese militarism.
