An excellent animation film released today to entertain the youngest ones in the summer heat. This South African-North American co-production, directed by Anthony Silverston, Khumba, tells us the life, adventures and misfortunes of a “half zebra”.
In Khumba’s life not everything is black or white. Khumba is a young zebra born with just half of its body striped. When his superstitious herd blames him for the sudden drought affecting the land, Khumba joins a cheeky gnu and an extravagant ostrich to find the legendary spring where the first zebras got their stripes. In their intrepid search through the Great Karoo desert, Khumba finds a series of unconventional characters and faces a tyrannical leopard in an epic battle to get his stripes.
