The Summer Festival of San Lorenzo de El Escorial presents tonight at 8:00 p.m. the Young Orchestra of the Community of Madrid. Since its creation in 2009, this group has been increasing its presence in the programmes of festivals and seasons of Spain and it has also gone on tours abroad. It was created to provide young musicians with professional training, so that they can get into the working world with a much complete background. Miguel Romea, its director, has been connected to the creation since its origin and he has developed pedagogical works with other orchestras such as the Young Orchestra of Extremadura where he also worked as a director.
The programme they present focuses on masters from the 20th century, jumping from the communist Russia of Shostakóvich to the work of an exile in the Symphony from the New World by Dvorák, and the work purely North American of Copland, three styles showing the melting pot that the 20th century was. We will be able to delight in the Festive Overture, by D. Shostakóvich; the Rodeo, Four Dance Episodes, by A. Copland, and the Symphony n.º 9 in E minor, Op. 95 from the New World, by A. Dvorák.
