Under the protection of the Embassy of Italy, with the sponsorship of Generali Insurances and the collaboration of Lavazza, the Italian Institute of Culture inaugurates today in its office of Madrid (86 Mayor Street) the exhibition Studio Azzurro, Revelaciones Mediterráneo. La voz revela el tiempo, which will be showed until next 30 September.
Connected to a new stage of the project related to the Mediterranean, which Studio Azzurro started in the year 2000, the exhibition is dedicated to the contested territory of La Mancha, which is why it is organized in two walls facing each other. Both walls, apparently inaccessible, are sensitive to the visitors’ gesture: their hand, touching and moving around these walls, finds a passage leading them to the interior of the architecture. The scene changes and the exploration taking place is in a dimension between the memory of a journey and the dream of a map. That way, the voices crossing and following one another throughout the centuries emerge. They tell the same story with words in different languages. At the end of this dreamy walk, there is a new scene where the only ones moving are the light and the wind. Then, a new wall to come closer and touch.
Between the two walls of projection, in the centre of the room, there is a tripod. Illuminated, tall and subtle like a lighthouse, which with its siren guides the journey and marks the time lived by the man and explored through images. The images have been recorded in the plains of La Mancha, Azuer, Calatrava, Herrera, Tomelloso, and in the castles of Alhambra, Belmonte, Calatrava La Vieja, Calatrava La Nueva, Consuegra, Munera, Peñarroya and Rochafrida.
Studio Azzurro draws this way a possible map of the Mediterranean of strong visual suggestion and great poetry, through the experienced, cultured and refined use of the most updated and sophisticated techniques and technologies, of the most sensible and precise recording instruments.
