The French Institute projects Mozart’s opera “The magic flute”

July 9, 2014
in Uncategorized

The French Institute of Spain in Madrid has the pleasure to project great live operas of the International Festival of lyrical arts of Aix-en-Provence. At 8:50 p.m. this Wednesday afternoon we will be able to enjoy, at the Theatre of the French Institute (10 Marqués de la Ensenada Street, Madrid), the Flûte enchantée (The magic flute) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In German with French subtitles. Free entrance while seats are available.

The magic flute (original title in German: Die Zauberflöte) is a singspiel in two acts with music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and libretto in German by Emanuel Schikaneder. This is the last staged opera in life by this composer and it was released at the Freihaus-Theater auf der Wieden of Vienna, on 30 September 1791, under the direction of Mozart himself, barely two months before his death. The singspiel is a type of popular opera sung in German, with some spoken parts in between. The magic flute is a story about beauty, wisdom and love.
