Alberto Rubio. Madrid.
Ambassador James Costos is right and we thank him for the appropriate correction he made through Twitter: @DiplomatinSpain “Not the first time, but thrilled to host at @CondeDuqueMAD & promote Madrid as premiere tourism/business destination”. We also thank him for following our daily. The information published in this same section on 30 June (https://thediplomatinspain.com/en/la-fiesta-del-4-de-julio-por-primera-vez-fuera-de-la-embajada-de-ee-uu-2/) was not absolutely correct.
From The Diplomat we admit our mistake and we apologize for not having consulted the newspaper library well. Certainly, it is not the first time that the Embassy of the United States in Spain celebrates the holiday of the 4 July out of its premises. To be precise, this is the second time they do it. In 2011, the event took place in the Glass Gallery of the Cibeles Palace, turned into the headquarters of the City Council of Madrid.
In that occasion, the then ambassador Alan D. Solomont wanted to pay tribute to the North American companies having business in Spain. This time, they want to promote Madrid and Chicago as emblematic destinations. In both occasions, just like other years, the event will have the support of different North American companies.
The event, which is expected to be attended by many people, will take place in the Cultural Centre Conde Duque. The Embassy has sent more than three thousand invitations to representatives of all social spheres. The Diplomat in Spain will also be there. This time, not mistakes will be made.
