The Apartment, Psychosis, Some like it hot, The Godfather, Grease, West Side Story, Moulin Rouge… What film lover can ask for more? The Cibeles Palace of Madrid is full of cinema with the programme of one of the most expected novelties of the present edition of “Veranos de la Villa”: the Cinema, the summer cinema of the Glass Gallery at the Cibeles Palace.
This will be the first experience of “pop-up cinema” in Madrid, an Anglo-Saxon concept of cinema based on the projection of emblematic films in unusual spaces, which has as an objective recovering the collective experience of the cinema. A formula including: good cinema (both classics and great hits and riskier proposals of the contemporary cinematography); a limited period of time (from 9 July to 31 August); and a singular space of the city (the Glass Gallery of Cibeles, decorated and with a special atmosphere), as well as exhibitions, entertainment, restaurants and music. A cinematographic experience far from conventional cinema, where the projection of the film turns into a unique and memorable event.
During the months of July and August, every night (from Tuesday to Sunday, from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.) the big screen of Cibeles will project great classics (The Apartment, Psychosis, Some like it hot or The Godfather); European hits (The Great Beauty, Cinema Paradiso or Amélie); cinema of the 80s (Back to the future, Indiana Jones and the last crusade or Alien); musical films (Grease, West Side Story, Moulin Rouge); modern cult films (Forrest Gump, Donnie Darko, The Big Lebowski , Gladiator); nowadays independent cinema (Dallas Buyers Club, Her, Moonrise Kingdom); and Spanish cinema (Blancanieves, Amanece que no es poco, Airbag), among others.
