Until 17 July, the Chinese Cultural Centre in Madrid (73 General Pardiñas Street) shows the exhibition Estaque de Fantasía: pinturas de Dong Xiaoming. The art of the Chinese painting, of ancient history, is an important part of the Chinese classical culture. The traditional awareness and the aesthetic grace of the Chinese people have merged in the artistic creation of the Chinese painting and the reflection of its ideological content, bringing to life the comprehension of the Chinese people about nature, society and other aspects related to these such as politics, moral, literature, art, etc.
The creation and the exploration of the Chinese painting through Estanque de fantasía, is a project that Mr Dong Xiaoming has been developing for years. The lotus, a classic element in the Chinese art, is named in Chinese using a homophone word for “peace”, and it has been one of the favourite themes of painters throughout history. It is described and it tries to represent purity, peace, quietness and the liveliness of the pond where the lotus grows, showing implicitly the aspirations of a harmonic world. Mr Dong’s attempts to extend the representative space of the Chinese painting and explore its contemporary morphology through new means and techniques, do not only mean an innovation in the Chinese traditional art, but also a sign of the attitude and the artistic aspirations of the painters when it comes to “the harmonic but different”.
Exhibition organized by the Ministry of Culture of China, the Chinese Cultural Centre in Madrid and the National Professional Committee for the Institutions of Beaux Arts of China, with the sponsorship of the Fund of Development for the Promotion of Culture of Shenzhen. Free visit.
