The Diplomat. Madrid
Bernardino León, former secretary of the State for Foreign Affairs with José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, is devoting himself to Eduardo Madina’s candidacy to become the secretary general of the PSOE. León, diplomat and socialist member, was seen after Madina when he announced his candidacy to the journalists, and his intention is to be in Spain this July when the campaign gets more intense before the Congress of the PSOE.
The former special representative of the European Union for the south of the Mediterranean, has recently seen his competences limited to Libya, something that can leave more time for him to dedicate to domestic politics and, in particular –if Madina wins–, to take care of the Secretary’s Office for International Relations of the PSOE. Bernardino León is leader of the PSOE in Malaga, which is part of the Andalusian Federation, which seems to be interested in the other candidate with possibilities, Pedro Sánchez.
