Jesús del Pozo, Ángel Schlesser, Josep Pont, Antonio Miró, Custo Barcelona, Javier Simorra, Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, Elena Benarroch, Antonio Pernas and Armand Basi are just some of the Spanish designers that are part of the Marca España in fashion. Adolfo Domínguez, another Spanish designer internationally famous, has been recently awarded with the Fashion National Award, in the category of “best professional trajectory”.
The Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, which grants these awards for the first time, recognizes the contribution of Domínguez to the fashion industry in the last 40 years, characterized by his innovative mentality in the use of materials and silhouettes. Besides, he was a pioneer developing international projects, modelling in the Paris Fashion Catwalk or designing the wardrobe of the North America series “Miami Vice”.
Princess Letizia and the minister of the sector, José Manuel Soria, gave him this distinction that also recognizes the trajectory of the fashion designer as founder, designer and president of Adolfo Domínguez, a company born in the 70s, with the opening of its first shop in Spain, from the small family tailor’s placed in Orense.
The firm is present in more than 40 countries
The designer, who first focused his work in men’s fashion and later in women’s fashion, accessories and child’s fashion, has his headquarters in Galicia. At the moment, it is a multinational distributing to more than 40 countries in 4 continents through more than 600 points of sale.
This award adds to the numerous recognitions that Adolfo Domínguez has already achieved during his career, among them the “Lifetime Achievement”, granted by the Miami Fashion Week, and “La Aguja de Oro”, of the Spanish Ministry of Culture for his cultural contribution and his artistic creation.
