From tomorrow, 10 June, until Saturday 14 June, ¡Sweet sixteen, German cinema!, the XVI German Film Festival, is taking place, long awaited by cinephiles and cinephages alike. In this edition of the festival, which we can see at the Palafox Cinemas (Luchana, 15), as well as the newest films, special attention will also be given to alternative and independent cinema, as well as a cycle of short films and one or two surprises more.
The festival will open with Caroline Link’s Exit Marrakech. The film director, who won an Oscar in 2002 for her film Nowhere in Africa, will be attending the festival to present her newest work to the public. All films will be shown in their original language, with subtitles in Spanish.
The German Film Festival, in addition, presents as part of its ArtHaus series, in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Madrid, a glance at some of the most recent indie films to come out of Germany and presents four that have caused furore at various festivals; Age of Cannibals, Love Steaks, Ummah- Among Friends y The Strange Little Cat.
