The company Réplika Teatro (8 Justo Dorado Street, Madrid) offers on Sundays 18 and 25 May, at 7:30 p.m., Instante, a poetic show from the Polish Nobel prize play Wisława Szymborska, with music by Vilma Judengloben playing piano live. The Polish Institute of Culture of Madrid and the Foundation named after the poetess collaborate with this representation. A reflection on history, time of life, cruelty, fascination of the world’s wonders and death through the poetic universe of one of the most lucid voices of the Central European scene of the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st. Wisława Szymborska (1923-2012) is one of the most relevant voices of the Polish poetry of the 20th century and she was given the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1996. She is also known for her contribution to the literary criticism, the translation and the essay.
Réplika Theatre offers us, also in collaboration with the Polish Institute of Culture, the play El loco y la monja, by Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz. Creator of the Pure Form of the theatre, the Polish poet deals in this play with the grotesque reflection on normality, craziness and the artistic creation as elements where capturing not only philosophical concepts about the decline of the contemporary society, but also the ideas of an anti naturist theatre where the fantastic element prevails when dealing with the actors and the drama. The play is conceived as a grotesque dream around the artist’s figure. The play will be represented on Fridays 16, 23 and 30 May, at 8:30 p.m. Single price: €12.
