With the series “Amrika: Arab in America” as background, Casa de América planned a week full of good cinema. The sessions will take place at 19 pm and entry is free until all seats.
Tuesday, 20th – Tiro Libre (Free kick) of Marcelo Piña Lorca. Documentary about the challenges which five players of Palestine’s national football team face in their quest to achieve their qualification for one of the biggest sporting events on the planet: the World Cup.
Wednesday, 21st – I’m Palestinian of Osama Qashoo, at Casa Árabe. This original documentary tells the story of some ignored people living in Cuba: the Palestinians in Oriente (the East of the island). After the show, a debate will open moderated by Karim Hauser and director Osama Qashoo.
Thursday, 22nd – Amrika, Amrika, of Sara Harb. The director in this documentary records the arrival process, adaptation and integration of Arab immigrants in the Colombian Caribbean through the stories that tell members of several generations of immigrants.
Friday, 23rd – Amreeka, of Cherien Dabis. Produced in USA, Canada and Kuwait. This film tells the difficulties of a Palestinian family to integrate into American society. A film made with friendly and hopeful tone.
Saturday, 24th – Habi, the foreigner, of Maria Florencia Alvarez. Film that deals with the search for identity and the way to find it.
