<h6><strong>The Diplomat</strong></h6> <h4><strong>The Chamber of Commerce has met in Amman representatives of large Spanish companies in order to analyze the business opportunities and economic cooperation offered by Jordan.</strong></h4> <strong> </strong> The <a href="https://www.camara.es/encuentro-empresas-espana-jordania"><strong>meeting</strong></a>, organized in collaboration with the CEOE and the Secretary of State for Commerce, through ICEX, was preceded by the signing of an understanding agreement between the Chamber of Commerce and the Jordan Europe Business Association (JEBA) with the objective of strengthen trade, economic cooperation and business relations between Spain and Jordan. Likewise, the Chamber of Spain signed another agreement of understanding with the Chamber of Commerce of Amman to promote bilateral cooperation and boost trade between both countries. <strong> </strong> The business meeting, which was held on Thursday in the Jordanian capital, was attended by <strong>the Jordanian Minister of Industry, Tariq Hammnouri; the Secretary of State for Commerce, Xiana Méndez; the general secretary of the Chamber of Spain, Adolfo Díaz-Ambrona; and the president of the Amman Chamber of Commerce, Khali EL-Haj Tawfiq.</strong> <strong> </strong> During the event, Xiana Méndez highlighted "the excellent relations between the two countries in all areas, economic, social and political", and highlighted the position of Jordan as a strategic enclave for the whole area. <strong> </strong> For his part, Adolfo Díaz-Ambrona, recalled that commercial transactions between the two countries have doubled since 2015. "For Spain, Jordan has favorable conditions for closer business ties, since it has an open economy, a high young population and a growing dynamism in sectors such as tourism, energy, construction or business services", he added. <strong> </strong> Although sales to Jordan have multiplied since 2015, imports remain relatively insignificant, according to the Chamber. Apart, Spanish companies have won projects for 600 million euros, especially in the sector of renewables and infrastructure. The companies participating in the event included Abengoa, Caixabank, CAF, Elecnor, Eptisa, Indra, Mapfre, OHL, Siemens Gamesa and Técnicas Reunidas. <strong> </strong>
