The role of the Think Tanks'. The debate that took place coinciding with the publication of the Global Index of the University of Pennsylvania, which offers a global ranking of 'think tanks', was moderated by Carlos Carnero, managing director of Alternatives, with the participation of a large group of teachers , politicians, economists and journalists and the initial interventions of Diego López Garrido, Executive Vice President of the aforementioned foundation; and Emilio Lamo de Espinosa, president of the Elcano Royal Institute. In the colloquium, issues such as the need for the work carried out by think tanks to reach society or at least the most influential layers of society, as well as the importance that the issues addressed are in contact with reality, but with a certain perspective to be above the constant changes that occur in a world dominated by social networks. Similarly, they insisted on the maintenance of the independence of the think tanks and that they must be transparent in order to achieve greater credibility in their analyzes.
