Thai ambassador, Rattikul Chansuriya, said yesterday that the ASEAN Committee in Madrid (ACM) «will continue to play a constructive role in promoting relations with Spain” of this organization, which yesterday celebrated its 51st anniversary with a reception attended by practically all of the Asian ambassadors.
After the solemn raising of ASEAN’s flag and its anthem performance, the ambassador, who is currently the chairwoman of the CAM, stressed that «thanks to the collaboration with Spanish public and private sectors, the Committee has continuously created awareness of ASEAN in Spanish society through various activities», such as ASEAN Business Forums in various cities in Spain, ASEAN Talk and ASEAN University Fair in Madrid.
«The Vision for Spain in Asia 2018-2022 and the establishment of Spain-ASEAN Business Association are the testament of the ACM tireless efforts», added Rattikul Chansuriya, who reiterated «our readiness to continue working closely with Spain to further strengthen ASEAN-Spain relations for the benefits of our peoples».
Thailand will exercise the ASEAN Presidency in 2019, whose creation was formalized on August 8, 1967 with the signing of the Bangkok Declaration. Since then ASEAN, which gathers together ten countries, has become the sixth world economy with a Gross Domestic Product of 2.3 trillion euros and a market of 652 million consumers.
