Spain wants to strengthen cooperation with Australia in big issues of the multilateral agenda, according to information provided yesterday by the Foreign Ministry, after the participation of the Foreign Minister, Josep Borrell, in a meeting organized in Madrid by the Spain-Australia Council Foundation, on the occasion of the visit of the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Sir Peter Cosgrove, and in honor of the delegation of the European Australian Business Council (EABC), presided by the Minister of Rural Development, Territories and Local Governance of Australia, John McVeigh.
Borrell pointed out that both countries “share principles and values and that they hold similar geopolitical positions”, and he emphasized before Cosgrove -who was received yesterday by the King- the recent rapprochement in the fields of trade and investment, with almost one hundred Spanish companies established in Australia, especially in the sectors of infrastructures, naval construction, renewable energy, water treatment and services.
