The Diplomat
The Council of Ministers authorized last Friday the signing of the agreement on air transport between Spain and Nicaragua, which will replace the previous agreement of 1992, still in force.
The agreement was negotiated during the conference on air services negotiations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), held in Nassau (Bahamas) in December 2016, in order to update the legal framework that provides coverage to the links between both countries, adapting it to the community regulations.
As far as its content is concerned, the agreement establishes very flexible principles regarding the regime of operations that can be carried out between Spain and Nicaragua, thus strengthening mutual relations in the field of commercial air transport. Each party may designate as many airlines as it wishes, both for passenger and cargo operations, upon written notification.
