The Catalan Minister for External Action, Ernest Maragall, said yesterday that the Generalitat will continue opening delegations abroad «in an act of self-defense», after the Central Government filed a contentious-administrative appeal against the reopening of the delegations in the US, United Kingdom and Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and France, which were closed pursuant to article 155 of the Constitution.
In declarations to Catalunya Ràdio, Maragall affirmed that there will be a «systematic deployment» that has begun restoring those that already existed and studying the possibility of opening in new territories such as the Nordic countries and the Balkans. He added that he does not believe that the government’s recourse can stop this expansion.
