ICEX Spain Export and Investments organized in 2017 a total of 1,823 activities and facilitated more than 17,000 business participations in activities related to internationalization, according to the 2017 Report of the institution, which highlights that digital transformation, sustainability as a factor of competitiveness and public and private institutional cooperation were the main objectives of last year.
The Report, presented at the end of July and summarizing the work carried out during the year in favor of the internationalization of Spanish companies and the attraction of foreign investments to Spain, indicates that ICEX attended in 2017 about 52,500 queries through the service of Global Window and provided more than 2,500 personalized services to companies in foreign markets.
For its part, the initiation program for internationalization ICEX Next incorporated 244 companies, continues the Report, which states that all actions have been guided by the Strategic Plan 2017-2018, integrated into the Strategy for the Internationalization of the Spanish Economy 2017 -2027.

According to ICEX, Spain has decidedly committed to a production model based on exports «that is reporting success in the form of gains in competitiveness, growth and job creation». In 2017, according to the institution, Spanish companies exported a value of 277,000 million euros, 8.9% more than in 2016, a historical maximum, with a cumulative growth of 73% since 2009.
In addition, in 2017 more than 160,000 export companies were registered, of which more than 50,000 did so on a regular basis (almost 32%). Also, for the fifth consecutive year, the current account balance closed with a surplus, equivalent to 1.9% of GDP, and for the sixth year, Spain recorded financing capacity abroad (23,000 million euros, around 2% of the GDP).
