Foreign Affairs Minister, Josep Borrell, revealed yesterday that the current director of the Diplomatic School, Ramón Gil-Casares, will be the next Ambassador of Spain to Egypt, and confirmed, as The Diplomat reported, that the former Secretary of State for the EU, Jorge Toledo, will take over the Embassy in Japan.
In a tribune published in ABC, Borrell justifies the relays of ambassadors that have taken place after the arrival of Pedro Sanchez to the Government and emphasizes that, although there have been some changes, it has kept in their posts holders of important Embassies such as Paris, London, Buenos Aires or the EU. Under the title «Things as they are», the minister is shelling the changes, some of which have affected ambassadors who had been in their posts for a short time, and who have links with the PP or with FAES.
However, Borrell points out, in particular, that Ramón Gil-Casares, a person who worked very closely with José María Aznar in the Presidency of the Government and was ambassador to the United States with Mariano Rajoy, will be appointed ambassador in Cairo.
Similarly, confirms, as published this website, that Jorge Toledo, former Secretary of State of the EU will go as head of Mission to Tokyo, and that the agréments have also been requested to appoint ambassadors to Ireland and Brazil, respectively to the former Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Ildefonso Castro; and Cooperation and Ibero-America, Fernando García-Casas.
