Several Podemos and PSOE members of the Congress’ Inter-group of Friendship with Palestine sent a letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, to ask for protection for the Freedom Flotilla that travels to Gaza and that, predictably, will arrive in the next days to the Palestinian port.
In anticipation of an assault by Israeli Navy on the ships, the signatories of the letter (Gloria Elizo, Pablo Bustinduy, Antón Gómez-Reino, Àngela Ballester, Sònia Farré, Aina Vidal, Jorge Luis Bail, Rosana Pastor, Enric Bataller and Soraya Rodríguez) ask the Government for a pronouncement in defense of the right to free navigation in international waters and the freedom of movement of people and goods to and from Gaza.
In addition, they demand the implementation of specific actions to enforce the traditional position of Spain and the European Union on Palestine and Israel to contribute to end the blockade of Gaza, finish trade with Israeli settlements and recognize the right to a Palestinian state.
MPs request Josep Borrell to provide consular attention to three Spaniards (Lucía Mazarrosa, Emilia Nacher and Francisco Canales) who travel in the flotilla as representatives of Rumbo a Gaza together with Zohar Chamberlain Reguev, Israeli citizen resident in Spain.
