The Government will request the authorities of the Philippines the agrément to appoint Jorge Moragas as ambassador to that country, once he is relieved of his position as Permanent Representative to the United Nations, The Diplomat learned from reliable sources.
Moragas will accompany today the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, in the voluntary examination of Spain on the objectives of the 2030 Agenda, which will take place at the UN headquarters in New York, in what will be one of his last tasks in the position he took by the end of last year.
As The Diplomat reported last week, the former head of the Cabinet of Mariano Rajoy in the Presidency of the Government will be replaced by Agustín Santos, an appointment still to be confirmed in a forthcoming Council of Ministers. The Executive of Pedro Sanchez has offered to Moragas to be ambassador to the Philippines and the diplomat has accepted. So, once the agrément is granted, he will move to Manila.
