José Ramon García Hernández will continue as Secretary of PP’s International area, within the Executive Committee formed by the new party president, Pablo Casado.
Garcia Hernandez already occupied that position in the former Executive Committee of Mariano Rajoy and was a candidate to preside over the PP in the recent primary election. After obtaining 668 votes of the militants, he was left out of the second round, in which he gave his support to Pablo Casado.
José Ramón García Hernández joined the Diplomatic Service in 2002 and, after holding several positions in Madrid and abroad -among them, second chief of Spanish Embassies in Bosnia and Bulgaria-, he requested to leave in 2012 to work as advisor to PP Parliamentary Group in the Congress. Since April 2014, he has been MP for Ávila and PP spokeman in the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Congress, as well as second vice president in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
