The five parties that make up the Democratic Opposition of Equatorial Guinea in Exile have denounced that the VI National Political Dialogue Table organized last week by President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo «has not served absolutely at all».
The meeting ended on Monday without any agreement between the government and the participating opposition parties. The opposition legal training CPDS, which had called for the resignation of the Executive and the implementation of a government of national unity until the call for new elections without Obiang, refused to sign the agreement proposed by the regime due to breach of the amnesty of all the political prisoners promised by the regime. At the closing ceremony, the president was satisfied with «the harmony and the dialogue spirit of the participants».
In a statement, the five parties of exile (APGE, CORED, MAIB, PP and UP) denounced that the Dialogue Table «has been, once again, a montage by President Obiang» that «has not served to resolve the many problems that the Guineans suffer, «such as» the lack of freedom of work, the violation of civil rights, the lack of decent housing, health, education and personal and collective development”.

They also denounced that the government «did not release or release the many political prisoners who crowd the Guinean jails» nor showed «any interest in a substantial change in their government action and less any step towards democracy”.
The exile expressed its rejection of the formation of a government of national unity with Obiang to carry out «the political transition from dictatorship to democracy» and demanded the president his «exit from power» as a condition for a true national dialogue between the opposition and the Government».
«The true national dialogue, now that we are on the threshold of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of our independence, should be carried out through the intermediation of Spain, France and the US», the five formations warned. The exile has called a rally for August 3 in Madrid, coinciding with the 39th anniversary of the coup d’état that gave power to Obiang.
