The Minister of Foreign Affairs, EU and Cooperation, Josep Borrell, notify the Colombian Ambassador to Spain, Alberto Furmanski, that the new Spanish Government maintains its previous position about the wreck of galleon ‘San José’.
Borrell received Fumanski before he returns to his country, at the end of the Presidency of Juan Manuel Santos, who yesterday announced plans for the recovery of the wreck. The new Colombian president, Iván Duque, assumes power on August 7.
The Minister already made clear the position of the new government last June in letters sent to Colombian Foreign Minister, María Ángela Holguín, and Culture Minister, Mariana Garcés. In both, Borrel reaffirmed the offer of Spanish collaboration.
