Until next July 22 Madrid’s Teatro Real receives the visit of The Royal Ballet, which returns to the capital’s stage, after twenty years of absence, to present its new production of Swan Lake, signed by Liam Scarlett, on the original of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, whose premiere took place in London on May 17 and will make Madrid the first place in the world, after Covent Garden, where will be staged this new version.
Liam Scarlett places the action at the end of the 19th century, and for its setting has chosen the prestigious British designer, John Macfarlane, responsible for costumes and set design, who, while remaining true to tradition, brings the essential halo of fairytale and the intimacy or exhibition necessary when the narration requires it.
