The secretary of State for International Cooperation and for Ibero-America, Juan Pablo de Laiglesia, has cancelled the visit he planned to make to Nicaragua to try to know on the ground the difficult situation that the country is undergoing.
As previously revealed by The Diplomat, he planned to go to Managua yesterday and remain there until Wednesday, but, finally, the visit has not taken place. On Friday, De Laiglesia met the Nicaraguan secretary for Public Policies, the minister Paul Oquist, who shared the point of view of the Government of Daniel Ortega about what is happening in Nicaragua. Oquist also met the secretary general of the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI in its Spanish acronym) for the Education, Science and Culture, the Spanish Mariano Jabonero, who took up the position recently.
