Ibermedia, the successful Ibero-American film promotion program, turns 20. Rebeca Grynspan, ibero-american secretary general said: «Thanks to the 1,600 films released to date, today we latin americans know and understand each other better».
This cooperation program started in 1998 to promote cinema in the 22 countries of Ibero-America, after being created at the Ibero-American Summit of Isla Margarita in 1997. In 20 years it has supported the production of 2,300 film projects, giving rise to the Ibero-American film industry today.
Since its creation, Ibermedia has contributed 93 million dollars for Ibero-American films, which translates into a total of 2,396 funded film projects, more than 1,600 films released, and indirect support for 2,000 companies and more than 10,000 professionals in the audiovisual industry. .
Through these projects Ibermedia has promoted the creation of a competitive film industry in the region, an industry that has projected itself worldwide telling its own stories with its own language, that has reflected the reality of Ibero-America.
To celebrate its twentieth anniversary, Ibermedia -through the «20×20» cycle- will show 20 of its most representative co-productions in cinemas all over Ibero-America between July and December 2018, starting in Madrid, at the Cineteca (Plaza de Legazpi, 8). The entrance will be free.
