The company Ethiopian Airlines operated yesterday the initial flight between Barcelona and Addis Ababa, in what means the first direct air connection between Spain and Ethiopia. The plan is to have four weekly flights during summer and until the end of October.
The new route, which will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, makes a technical stopover in Madrid. During the route’s inauguration, the company’s director general, Tewolde Gebremariam, estimated that there will be around 200 passengers per flight and he did not rule out the possibility of having a direct flight, without stopover in Madrid, between Addis Ababa and Barcelona if the demand grows.
