“An example of caution, who has carried out an excellent work, with great success, and always welcome in the Foreign Ministry”. This is how the director general for Bilateral Relations with Countries of the EU and Candidates, Juan López-Herrera, described the Ambassador of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Darko Zelenika, during the reception offered on Thursday at his residence to say goodbye to colleagues and friends at the end of his mission in Spain.
“After thirteen years working as a diplomat, I can only say that it has been a great satisfaction, an honor and an extraordinary privilege to represent Bosnia in this friend country, which is Spain”, Zelenika answered, accompanied by his wife, Katerina.
During their speeches, both of them, who toasted the future of bilateral relations (in the above photo), remembered the “special relationship” that has been uniting both countries since, at the end of 1992, the Group Málaga” came to Bosnia within the framework of UNPROFOR, and that meant the first Spanish military intervention in peace missions abroad.
López Herrera also pointed out that, after that first stage came the second one, in which Bosnia was “the country that received the most attention of the Spanish Agency of International Cooperation”, and now “we are in the third one, in which Spain is committed to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia, as well as it forcefully supports its European and Atlantic perspective”.
