The Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum and the Sorolla Museum organize an exhibition dedicated to the presence of fashion in the work of Joaquín Sorolla that will take place, simultaneously and complementarily in both museums, until 27 May. The exhibition includes more than seventy paintings of national and international private collections, some of which have never been publicly exhibited before.
Sorolla, great fashion lover, is the perfect chronicler of change in clothing trends and style of the end of the century. His paintings are an evocative catalogue of dresses, jewels and accessories highlighted by his free and vigorous lines. The exhibition focuses on feminine portraits painted by the artist between 1890 and 1920, which dialogue in the room with dresses of the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th.
