On 24 January, King Felipe VI will participate in the World Economic Forum to be held in the Swiss locality of Davos between 22 and 26 January.

This annual forum will be attended by around 350 world leaders, among them 60 heads of State and Government, which will gather together this year under the slogan ‘Creating a shared future in a fractured world’. The most media visit will be that of the US President, Donald Trump, who will become the first leader of the US to attend this event in 18 years, as well as those of the French Emmanuel Macron and the Argentinian Mauricio Macri.

The event will also be attended by the president of the world’s main companies and around a thousand social, academic and media leaders. This meeting in Davos will be the first attended by a Spanish monarch, although, in May, King Felipe VI attended the meeting of the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and the north of Africa, which took place in Jordan, a date also attended by Juan Carlos I in 2011.

Therefore, this will also be the occasion in which Spain will have the highest institutional representation in this meeting. All this, in a moment in which the Government of Mariano Rajoy has established the consolidation of an economic recovery as a priority, for which it only sees one risk, the open crisis in Catalonia for the pro-independence defiance.
