The Council of Ministers authorized the signing of an agreement between Spain and Japan to eliminate double taxation on income taxes and prevent tax avoidance and evasion. The agreement will affect the Spaniards who reside in Japan and the Japanese who reside in Spain.
The objective of the agreement is to give “an adequate tax treatment” to taxpayers who carry out economic activities in the international arena and to favor exchanges between both countries, as well as to foster cooperation among tax authorities, according to the reference of the Council of Ministers of past Friday.
In addition, the Executive accepted an amendment to the Annex of the Agreement between Spain and Japan on air services, dating from 1980, to allow more flexibility in the establishment of commercial air routes, granting the aeronautical authorities greater freedom in the choice of territorial points in Japan, intermediate points, points in Spain and points beyond the routes managed by both countries.
